UNIS Turns Into Schoolgirls on a Class Trip
K-POP girl group UNIS is gearing up for its Japanese debut with a fresh set of concept photos. The eight-member act rolled out School-style visuals for its first Japanese EP, "UNI☆Sparkle!," through July 23.
The photos show members Jin Hyun-ju, Nana, Gehlee Dangca, Kotoko, Bang Yoon-ha, Elysia, Oh Yun-ah, and Lim Seo-won dressed in schoolgirl outfits. Each member styled her uniform with ribbon ties and knit vests to show off her personal look.
Props also stood out in the shots. Digital cameras, diaries, candy, and sunglasses filled the frames. The mood felt like a school trip, and the members' relaxed expressions leaned into the youthful feel of the record.
UNIS has been running a steady promotional push ahead of the launch. On July 17, the group pre-released the music video and audio for the title track "GimmeSummer☆."
"UNI☆Sparkle!" is built around the feel of Japanese pop culture. The EP carries five tracks in total, including the title song "GimmeSummer☆," "MoshiMoshi♡," "mwah…," "BBYBBY," and a Japanese version of "SWICY."
The EP arrives on July 31, when UNIS will officially begin promotions in Japan. "GimmeSummer☆" is the group's first summer song, telling the story of girls growing up in the space between love and friendship.
The Japan debut marks a new chapter for UNIS as the group begins a new phase of its career.
