BABYMONSTER Lands First U.S. Radio Chart Entry With 'CHOOM'

K-POP girl group BABYMONSTER has broken into U.S. mainstream radio. The group's single "CHOOM" debuted at No. 35 on Mediabase's Top 40 Radio Chart in the tracking week of July 19 to 25.

"CHOOM" is the title track from BABYMONSTER's third mini album. The Mediabase Top 40 Radio Chart ranks songs based on airplay data from major radio stations across the United States and Canada. That same data feeds into Billboard's Radio Songs chart, one of the components used to build the Hot 100. Because of that link, the chart is treated as a key measure of a song's reach in the North American mainstream market.

"CHOOM" has been played on major U.S. stations including KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, Z100 (WHTZ-FM) in New York and WKSC-FM in Chicago.

The entry marks the first time BABYMONSTER has appeared on a U.S. mainstream radio chart since its debut. The result is drawing attention in part because it comes 11 weeks after the song's release, a sign of steady rather than immediate traction.

BABYMONSTER is carrying that momentum into its second world tour. The run starts in Seoul and covers 18 cities across five continents, including Japan, other parts of Asia, North America, Europe and South America, for a total of 29 shows.
