DAY6's Young K Tops Charts With Solo Album 'YOUNGEST'

Young K of K-POP band DAY6 is drawing wide attention with his return to solo music, landing at the top of music charts in South Korea and overseas.

Young K released his second full-length album, "YOUNGEST," on the 27th, about two years and 10 months after his last solo project. The title track "Shut The Door" hit No. 1 on the Bugs real-time chart at 7 p.m. KST on release day. The album took the top spot on the daily Hanteo album chart for the same date. It also reached No. 1 on iTunes top album charts in several overseas markets, including Hong Kong and Indonesia. All 15 tracks on the album entered Melon's Top 100 chart.

The album title plays on the English suffix "-est," and the record functions as Young K's answer to his own questions, told through music. "Shut The Door" is written in the form of a diary entry, capturing the moment of comforting yourself behind a closed door.

Young K will launch his solo run "Young K Solo Tour 'YOUNGEST'" in August. The tour opens with three shows at Inspire Arena in Incheon from August 14 to 16, followed by dates in Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Manila and Kuala Lumpur.
