Minha Kim Reveals Rehearsal Footage From Blue Dragon Series Awards Opening

Actress Minha Kim is drawing new attention for her singing voice. The star, who recently made headlines for a 17-kilogram (about 37-pound) weight loss, showed off her live vocals in rehearsal footage from the Blue Dragon Series Awards.
Her agency, Noon Company, posted the rehearsal video to its official social media on the 2nd. Minha Kim regrammed the clip on her own accounts, sharing behind-the-scenes moments from the stage with fans.
In the video, Minha Kim sings on stage in a black off-the-shoulder top and blue jeans. Her makeup is minimal, as expected in rehearsal, but the vocals hold up like a finished performance. Her live singing is steady, and her tone carries real depth. Even in rehearsal, she stays locked into every line of the song.
For the awards ceremony itself, she took the stage in a silver off-the-shoulder dress that gave the performance a more elegant, classic feel. She delivered Frank Sinatra's "That's Life" with a clean, powerful voice, controlling the stage like a professional singer. The rehearsal look and the polished awards-night look were very different, but her vocals stayed just as strong in both.
Right after the performance, host Jun Hyun-moo praised her on stage. "I'm not sure any other awards show puts this much heart into a tribute stage," he said. "Today, this wasn't actress Minha Kim. This was musician Minha Kim. It felt like walking into a jazz bar." When Minha Kim returned later as a presenter, she said, "Today's stage made me more nervous than any film or drama set I've ever been on."
Minha Kim recently shared during press for the film "Hana Korea" that she originally wanted to be a singer. She said she once enrolled at a vocal academy behind her parents' backs to prepare for a music career. "As I trained, I hit a wall," she said. "There were so many people who were great at it, and I didn't think I could compete. So I went back to studying." She said she eventually turned to acting after actor Sol Kyung-gu, a neighbor at the time, told her, "You should try acting."
Her 17-kilogram weight loss also became a major talking point. "I ate very little, just one small meal a day, and worked out hard," she said. The transformation is reported to be for an upcoming project, in which she plays a character with a terminal illness.
