WayV Pushes Beyond Limits With New EP 'Vision Wings'

WayV is exploring the forces that keep it moving forward with its eighth mini album, "Vision Wings," released Aug. 10.

The seven-track project is built around Chinese words that share the same pronunciation but carry different meanings, using each as a thematic keyword to connect the songs. The album includes both Chinese and English versions of the title track "鸢 (Vision Wings)."

Blending the flowing sound of the traditional Chinese zither guzheng with jungle-influenced beats, "Vision Wings" takes WayV into Chinese-inspired hip-hop. Its title uses the character "鸢," meaning kite, as an image of something that continues to soar even through a storm, reflecting the song's message of holding onto one's convictions and pushing beyond limitations.

The accompanying music video expands on that idea with the members appearing as warriors, while the choreography incorporates martial arts-inspired movements into the group's performance style.

WayV will mark the release with a listening party in Guangzhou before continuing promotions in Korea. The group will also bring its "BORN THIS Way" concert tour to Seoul's KBS Arena on Sept. 12 and 13.
