"Will It Be Canceled?" BTS' Toronto Concert Delayed Due to Severe Weather
TORONTO — BTS's world tour stop in Toronto is stalled by severe weather, with fans left waiting outside Rogers Stadium as heavy rain and lightning hit the open-air venue. Local observers say the storm could force a significant delay or even a cancellation for safety reasons.
As of 7:30 p.m. local time on Saturday (8:30 a.m. KST), large crowds of BTS fans were still lined up outside Rogers Stadium in Toronto, unable to enter. With roughly 30 minutes to go before the scheduled start, gates had not opened, making a delayed start certain. Fans waited in ponchos and under umbrellas, hoping to get in.
A heavy rain advisory issued by Environment Canada ended at 7:15 p.m., but forecasters warned that rainfall of 40 to 50 millimeters per hour could continue. Heavy rain was still coming down around the stadium at the time, and strong rain was expected in the surrounding area for at least another hour.
Thunder and lightning added a safety concern on top of the rain. Organizers and the venue were closely tracking the storm system as they weighed whether to proceed. Rogers Stadium said it would share updates as the situation developed. The rain is expected to continue into the next day and could affect the Toronto run overall.
