Former NCT Mark Lee Sets September Return With New Single

Mark Lee will return with new solo music next week, releasing his single "My Friend" on Sept. 10.

Upper Room announced the release on Sept. 2 alongside the first music video teaser. The cinematic clip moves between city views and outdoor settings including forests, flower fields and open landscapes, before taking a darker turn as Mark runs toward a large fire.

The visuals build around a "Back to Basic" theme, focusing on youth, uncertainty and the process of moving forward. The final scenes, including Mark standing silhouetted against the flames, hint at a more intense side of the song's story.

Mark has also been experimenting with fan-focused promotions ahead of the release. He previously opened "MARK's Voice Mailbox," allowing fans to leave recorded messages, and recently launched a page on fan communication platform Laylo. According to Upper Room, more than 42,000 people sent messages and signed up through the platform within its first hour.

"My Friend" will be released Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. KST on streaming platforms.
