ILLIT Announces 'BREAK EVEN' Comeback, Six Months After 'It's Me'
K-pop girl group ILLIT will return this fall with its fifth mini-album. BELIFT LAB announced that "BREAK EVEN" will be released on Oct. 26.
The title comes from the economic term "break-even point," where gains and losses balance out. According to BELIFT LAB, the album carries a message about no longer spending time or energy on relationships in which their effort is not reciprocated.
Previous releases have portrayed ILLIT as pursuing someone without hesitation. On "BREAK EVEN," that stance changes. The album will tell the story of a turning point in which the narrator confronts someone who remains lukewarm instead of continuing to chase them.
The album arrives about six months after "It's Me," the title track from the group's fourth mini-album, released in April. The techno-influenced song combined a hard-edged sound with tightly choreographed performances and ranked near the top of major charts in South Korea and overseas. It has remained high on the charts about four months after its release.
In Japan, ILLIT promoted "I Got Your Back (Feat. JISOO, MOMOKA of HANA)," the title track from its second Japanese single. The song was featured on the soundtrack to the ABEMA original drama "The Rules of Vacation" (Bakansu no Hosoku) as its opening theme and reached No. 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
The group's first tour, "ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥︎'," sold out all scheduled shows in Seoul, five Japanese cities and Hong Kong. ILLIT will hold encore concerts in Incheon in October and Chiba, Japan, in December.
