RESCENE Sets Nov. 3 Comeback to Cement Breakout Status

K-pop girl group RESCENE will return with a new album on Nov. 3. The comeback comes as the group seeks to build on the momentum of a viral summer moment and its subsequent rise on Korean music charts.

According to the group's agency on Sept. 18, RESCENE has confirmed the release date and is currently preparing for the comeback. The album will arrive about four months after the group's July remake single "Pretty Girl." It will also mark RESCENE's first release of original music in about seven months, following "Runaway" in April.

RESCENE gained wider public recognition this year through the "Geoje Yaho" meme, which spread rapidly across short-form video platforms and online communities. The clip originated from member Woni's personal YouTube channel and showed Japanese member Minami shouting "Geoje Yaho!" with a gyaru-inspired delivery.

The unexpected combination of the Korean city name and Minami's exaggerated delivery quickly caught on. RESCENE was later appointed a promotional ambassador for Geoje City.

The attention also led listeners back to the group's older music. "LOVE ATTACK," the title track from RESCENE's first mini album "SCENEDROME," began climbing the charts nearly two years after its release in August 2024.

As of 3 p.m. KST on Sept. 18, "LOVE ATTACK" ranked No. 1 on Melon's TOP100 chart. Three other RESCENE songs, "Deja Vu," "Runaway" and "Pretty Girl," were also on the chart at the same time.

Having four songs on the chart indicates that interest generated by the meme extended to RESCENE's broader catalog. The quality of the songs, along with the members' vocal tones and singing ability, helped turn the initial surge in attention into sustained listening.

The July release of "Pretty Girl," a remake of KARA's hit song, extended the group's momentum. The resurgence of "LOVE ATTACK" and the chart performance of "Pretty Girl" have helped RESCENE move beyond a single viral moment and draw attention to its next release.

The timing of the comeback is also notable. The album will arrive shortly before Korea's year-end stage season, when music awards and broadcast specials provide artists with some of their biggest exposure of the year.

Attention is now on whether RESCENE can maintain its momentum with new music and show a different side of the group on year-end stages.
