Here's Your Chance to See BTS RM's Personal Art Collection

BTS's RM will present his personal art collection in a museum exhibition for the first time. About 140 works he has collected will go on view at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

The special exhibition, "RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me," runs from October 3 through February 7, 2027, local time. It is the first museum exhibition featuring RM's private collection.

"This is the first time I'm sharing my collection under my own name," RM said through his agency, BIGHIT MUSIC. "I think few things show a person as honestly as a collection they've built over a long time. In that sense, this exhibition will be a fairly long self-introduction."

"My collection includes many works by modern and contemporary Korean artists," he added. "Some of these names may still be unfamiliar outside Korea. I've collected these works hoping to contribute a better perspective and sensibility, and that process led to this exhibition."

RM worked with SFMOMA co-curators América Castillo and Kim Hyo-eun to select the works and develop the exhibition. He also wrote the exhibition texts and artwork descriptions in Korean and English, recorded audio guides in both languages, and selected the music that will play in the galleries.

The collaboration began with an invitation from SFMOMA, which had followed RM's taste in art and his sustained interest in contemporary art. It marks the museum's first partnership with a K-pop artist.

"This project aligns closely with SFMOMA's direction of expanding the global conversation around art," SFMOMA director Christopher Bedford said. "It creates space in the museum for new voices, while also inviting audiences who first encountered contemporary art and Korean art through RM to come here."

About 180 works will be on view, bringing together RM's holdings and pieces from SFMOMA's collection. The exhibition features works by Korean artists including Yun Hyong-keun, Park Re-hyun, Chang Ucchin, Kwon Ok-yeon, Kim Yun-shin and Do Sang-bong, alongside works from the museum's collection by Kim Whanki, Nam June Paik, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse and Georgia O'Keeffe.

Through ceramics, calligraphy, painting and sculpture, the exhibition explores Korean art from the 6th century to the present. Works from different eras and cultures will be displayed together to examine how artists have approached nature, memory and human existence.

Around 140 works come from RM's collection, most of which will be shown in the United States for the first time. SFMOMA describes the exhibition as one of the most wide-ranging presentations of modern and contemporary Korean art held in the country.
