Lee Jae-wook Takes a Deadly Gig in Netflix Horror Series "Dead-End Job"
Netflix is leaning into workplace horror with its new series "Dead-End Job," set to premiere Oct. 30. The show stars Lee Jae-wook as a young man drowning in debt who takes a job that promises to pay 50 times the minimum wage, only to find his life on the line.
"Dead-End Job" is a survival horror series built around a suspicious staffing agency that only hands out so-called "honey jobs" that start at 50 times the regular hourly rate. Lee Jae-wook plays Hyeok-jun, a cash-strapped young man pulled into one nightmarish shift after another.
The series is directed by Kim Da-min, who wrote the script for "A Killer Paradox." Han Jun-hee, the filmmaker behind "D.P." and "Weak Hero Class 1," oversees the project as showrunner. The cast includes Lee Jae-wook, Go Min-si, Minha Kim, and Lee Hee-joon.
The newly released teaser poster captures Hyeok-jun slumped in the middle of a trashed room, with objects and furniture are scattered around him. He is covered in blood and looks exhausted. The poster carries a single line: "Minimum 50x hourly pay guaranteed. Will you accept this honey job?"
The teaser trailer opens with Hyeok-jun walking into the staffing office as a last resort. Inside the shabby office, he is offered a part-time job that pays 50 times the minimum wage.
When Hyeok-jun questions the too-good-to-be-true offer, the agency boss, played by Lee Hee-joon, brushes it off. "Where else are you going to find a honey job better than this?" he says. Hyeok-jun takes the offer, and the shifts quickly turn into something he never signed up for.
A late-night run to a convenience store brings a sudden swarm of moths. Then comes an unsettling encounter with a clown whose identity is never explained. The danger rises with the pay, and every successful job pushes his daily rate even higher.
Desperate for money, Hyeok-jun keeps signing up for the next high-paying gig, even knowing what might come. The series centers on the choices he makes between money and survival as a job that could kill him pushes him further into danger.
"Dead-End Job" premieres Oct. 30 on Netflix.
