BTS Takes Over Lima With 151,500 Fans and Massive Economic Impact
BTS has wrapped up its first-ever concerts in Peru, drawing more than 151,500 fans across three sold-out shows in Lima.
The group performed at Estadio San Marcos on Oct. 7, 9 and 10 as part of its "ARIRANG" World Tour. Originally scheduled for two nights, the stop was expanded to three following strong ticket demand.
Fans welcomed BTS with loud cheers and singalongs throughout the concerts. The members expressed their excitement about finally visiting Peru, with Jimin thanking fans for supporting the group from the other side of the world.
The concerts also brought increased tourism and spending to Lima. Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism projected approximately $18.7 million in tourism-related economic activity, while the Lima Chamber of Commerce estimated broader economic activity could reach 200 million soles.
According to local newspaper El Comercio, ride-hailing service Cabify recorded up to 15 times the usual demand for trips to the stadium on the first concert day, with post-show requests rising as high as 48 times normal levels.
BTS will continue its South American tour in Santiago, Chile, on Oct. 14, 16 and 17, followed by stops in Buenos Aires and São Paulo.
