Ex-fromis_9 Member Roh Ji Sun Reflects on Financial Struggles

Former fromis_9 member Roh Ji Sun has opened up about her past, reflecting on a period when she relied on credit card loans to cover living expenses after her activities with the group ended.

In a lengthy social media post, Roh looked back on the experiences she discussed during her appearance on the YouTube channel "Min Sae-rom's Open Studio."

"I tried to fit 15 years, from age 14 to 29, into just over 20 minutes," she wrote. "It wasn't enough time to tell every story, but I hadn't intended to share everything either."

During the interview, Roh said she had been unable to obtain a bank loan after her group activities ended and had turned to credit card loans instead. She recalled how her debt gradually snowballed.

"There were beautiful moments and moments that weren't, people I was grateful to and things that were difficult to understand," she wrote.

"I like pretty things. I enjoy dressing up, choosing what to wear, and looking at and creating beautiful things. But I came to realize that wanting to look beautiful because it makes me happy is different from having to look good for someone else. It took me quite a long time to understand that difference."

Roh also reflected on how her perspective has changed.

"When I look at myself, I can see how much I've changed. I've started questioning things I once took for granted and realizing that some of them were wrong," she wrote. "There's still a lot I don't know, and I'll keep changing, but I'm enjoying it."

She ended the post by explaining why she had chosen to share her story.

"This will probably be the first and last time I talk about the past at such length," she wrote. "I wasn't trying to persuade anyone or take stock of the past. It was simply my story, and I wanted to put it into my own words at least once."

Roh debuted with fromis_9 in 2018 after the group was formed through Mnet's 2017 survival show "Idol School." Her exclusive contract with PLEDIS Entertainment ended in 2024, and she subsequently concluded her activities with the group. Three members, including Roh, left the group, and fromis_9 has continued as a five-member act.
