NMIXX Previews First-Ever Unit Songs in "Strange Muse" Highlight Medley
NMIXX is preparing to explore new combinations within the group, unveiling previews of its first-ever unit songs ahead of the release of sixth mini album "Strange Muse."
The group released an original highlight medley offering snippets of the album's tracks ahead of its October 19 comeback.
Following an earlier a cappella medley featuring only the six members' voices, the new video introduces excerpts of the original recordings, including three previously unrevealed unit songs.
For the first time since debut, NMIXX has divided into three pairs for separate tracks: Lily and Haewon on "Sing to the Moon," Sullyoon and Bae on "Hot 'n Unbothered," and Jiwoo and Kyujin on "WHIP."
All six members participated in writing lyrics for their respective unit songs, while Kyujin also contributed to the composition of her track.
Lily and Haewon described "Sing to the Moon" as a song aimed particularly at listeners who enjoy ballads, explaining that they focused on their vocal tones and emotional delivery.
Sullyoon and Bae, meanwhile, said "Hot 'n Unbothered" would introduce a cooler, more mature side of their partnership.
Jiwoo and Kyujin described "WHIP" as a track that emphasizes their powerful voices and energy. The pair also expressed interest in exploring different member combinations and musical styles through future unit releases.
Alongside the unit tracks, the highlight medley previews "Kerosene," "RudE TaLK" and the album's title track, "Birthday Wish."
The title track features dreamlike narration and a gradually building melody, offering a glimpse of the musical direction NMIXX will take with its latest release.
Strange Muse follows the group's recent releases "Blue Valentine" and "Heavy Serenade," as NMIXX continues experimenting with different sounds and vocal arrangements.
The group's sixth mini album "Strange Muse" will be released on October 19 at 6 p.m. KST.
