BTS has become the first group to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify within a single calendar year, reaching the milestone with more than two months remaining in 2026.

According to figures announced on October 16, the seven-member group has accumulated more than 10 billion Spotify streams since the beginning of the year, joining solo artists including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Bad Bunny, who have previously reached the same annual milestone.

The achievement represents a 122% increase from BTS' approximately 4.5 billion streams in 2025, with the group's fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" accounting for a substantial portion of this year's listening activity.

Released on March 20, "ARIRANG" has surpassed 5 billion Spotify streams as of October 14, representing more than half of BTS' annual total.

The album also triggered a sharp increase in the group's daily streams. Before its release, BTS was averaging approximately 23 million streams per day. On March 20, that figure climbed to 130 million.

All 14 tracks from "ARIRANG" occupied the top 14 positions on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart on release day.

The album's title track, "SWIM," generated approximately 14 million streams on its first day, the highest single-day figure reported for a song released in 2026.

ARIRANG has also become Spotify's most-streamed album released this year, according to the figures cited in the announcement.

Its total of more than 5 billion streams places it approximately 2 billion ahead of Olivia Rodrigo's third studio album, "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love," which currently ranks second among 2026 releases.

Beyond streaming, BTS has also received two honors at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards Japan.

The group was named Artist of the Year on October 14, following the announcement in September that the "SWIM" music video had won Best Group Video/International.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at Tokyo Dome on October 29.
