Former EXO Member Tao's Wife Explains Why They Hid Their Son for Two Years

Former EXO member Tao and his wife, singer Xu Yiyang, have revealed why they kept the birth of their son private for more than two years.

According to a Chinese media outlet on Oct. 16, Xu spoke about the decision during a livestream after the couple shared photos of their son for the first time. She said she had struggled with health problems following his birth in 2024 and was already dealing with heavy criticism online.

Xu explained that the negative attention made her reluctant to reveal she had given birth. Tao reportedly wanted to share the news earlier but agreed to wait until she was ready.

The couple's announcement also revived rumors about surrogacy and claims that they had two children. Xu denied both, saying she gave birth to their only son by cesarean section. She also confirmed that the child is over two years old and holds Chinese nationality.

On Oct. 15, Xu posted photos of the family walking together on a beach at sunset, prompting questions from fans about the child's age.

Tao and Xu confirmed their relationship in July 2024, registered their marriage that December and held their wedding in October 2025.
