Joy, Kim Hyun-jin Lead TVING Rom-Com 'One-of-a-Kind Romance'

Joy and Kim Hyun-jin are teaming up for a new romance series. Titled "One-of-a-Kind Romance" (Yuilmui Romaenseu), the series will premiere on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. KST on the South Korean streaming platform TVING.

The show is based on the Naver Webtoon of the same name. It follows Gong Yu-il (played by Joy), an ordinary job seeker who becomes the manager of top star Tak Mu-i (Kim). Mu-i has been hurt by a stalking incident. The story follows how the two gradually become fans of each other.

Nothing is going Yu-il's way, either in love or in her job hunting attempts. Yu-il once drew attention by publishing a novel, "Byeol-i and the Half Moon" (Byeoriwa Bandal), but suddenly stopped writing to focus on finding a job.

Mu-i was a reader who loved the novel. He finds out by chance that Yu-il is the author. After that, he starts making a real effort to get close to her, and their relationship begins to change.

A newly released couple poster shows the two characters hugging and smiling. They are holding a bouquet of white roses together. In the language of flowers, the white rose symbolizes "a new beginning," a hint at where the relationship may develop.

Stills released alongside the poster trace the pair from their first meeting to the moment they start to grow close. Yu-il, who works a part-time job at a convenience store, greets Mu-i as a customer. He has his face hidden by a black cap and a mask. Yu-il doesn't recognize him and looks at him with clear suspicion.

Once Mu-i learns who Yu-il is, he goes straight to meet the author of his favorite novel. One still shows him leaning in close to her. Yu-il, guarded at first, now looks more conscious of his presence, a sign that things between the two are about to shift.

Outside South Korea, the series will get an early exclusive release on the streaming platform Viu in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and on ABEMA in Japan.
