Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon Pose for W Korea Ahead of 'The Remarried Empress'

Shin Min-a and Ju Ji-hoon portray an empress and emperor whose marriage falls apart in the upcoming Disney+ original series "The Remarried Empress." Ahead of the show's premiere, the two actors have appeared together in a new pictorial in Vol. 11 of the fashion magazine W Korea.

"The Remarried Empress" is a fantasy romance epic. It follows Navier (Shin), the poise and flawless empress of the Eastern Empire. Her husband, Emperor Sovieshu (Ju), falls for Rashta (Lee Se-young), a runaway slave, and ask Navier for a divorce. Instead of simply agreeing, Navier makes a counterproposal: approval to remarry Heinley (Lee Jong-suk), a prince of the Western Kingdom.

Navier and Sovieshu have stood by each other for years and ruled a powerful empire together. When Sovieshu's feelings change, cracks open in a relationship that once seemed unbreakable. The fragile bond between the two people at the top of the empire, and the mixed emotions tied up in it, forms one of the series' central storylines.

The new photos capture the tension between the two characters. Some shots suggest the atraction and strain between the two characters. Others let each actor in the spotlight individually. The poses are careful and the expressions are subtle, the result is a set of images that hints at a heavy story without revealing too much.

Shin embodies Navier's grace and inner strength. Ju brings an intense, steady stare that recalls Sovieshu's commanding presence. The contrast between the two adds to the anticipation for how their characters' relationship will unfold on screen.

The shoot came with an interview. The two actors talked openly about reuniting for their third project together, "The Remarried Empress", and shared behind-the-scenes stories. The full pictorial and interview are featured in W Korea Vol. 11.

"The Remarried Empress" will stream exclusively on Disney+. The first four episodes arrive on Nov. 4, followed by two new episodes each week, for a total of 10 episodes.

For Shin and Ju, the series marks another chapter in a partnership that has now reached its third project. This time, they will meet as a royal couple coming apart, which is a very different kind of story for the two actors to explore together.
