Shin Min-a Talks Blogging and Humor on 'You Quiz on the Block'

Actress Shin Min-a says she started a blog because she wanted to look hip, but the project did not last long.

Shin Min-a appeared as a guest on episode 366 of the tvN variety show "You Quiz on the Block," which aired on Oct. 28.

Host Yoo Jae-suk brought up the blog Shin launched last year. He pointed out that most celebrities start YouTube channels instead. Shin kept her answer simple.

"I started the blog to look hip," she said.

At first, Shin said, she made an effort to post regularly. "I kept the writing simple, with a bit of wit," she said.

Most of her posts were photos from her travels. But maintaining the blog took more effort than she had expected, from selecting the right photos to writing captions that fit them. The hardest part, she said, was coming up with funny captions to match the photos.

"So I've been taking a break for a year," she said. The blog is currently on hold.

Yoo Jae-suk then teased Shin about her love of comedy. He noted that she had played up her sense of humor during a previous appearance on the show.

"Everyone around me says I'm funny, but lately I've felt that I might not be," Shin said. "These days I'm starting to think I might only be funny to the people I spend time with."

There is at least one person who appreciates her humor. Shin named her husband, actor Kim Woo-bin.

"Kim Woo-bin is actually someone who really understands my jokes," she said, drawing laughs.
