BABYMONSTER Hits No. 1, BTS' Jungkook Surges 92 Spots After Spotify Milestone
BABYMONSTER topped K-POPIT BOARD's global weekly chart as the group's latest comeback continued to draw attention. BTS member Jungkook also made a sharp climb, jumping 92 spots after reaching a new milestone on Spotify.
According to K-POPIT BOARD, a K-POP analytics index, BABYMONSTER ranked No. 1 globally for the fifth week of October, scoring 59.8 on the global power index, PWR(GL). The group also scored 63.3 on the domestic power index, PWR(KR), placing within the top 10 on both charts.
BABYMONSTER rose three places globally from the previous week. The group's ranking began climbing over the weekend following its comeback, reaching No. 1 on Oct. 27. It remained within the top five for much of the following week.
The group's latest release has attracted attention for its ballad sound, which puts the members' vocals at the forefront rather than the hip-hop and dance elements heard in many of their previous songs. The music video drew strong viewership on YouTube, while live performances also prompted positive reactions to the members' singing.
That interest was reflected in the group's VCR score, which rose from 87.0 to the maximum of 100. The metric measures how much online attention translates into actual content consumption, suggesting that interest in the comeback continued to drive views and streams.
Jungkook, meanwhile, recorded the biggest climb of the week. The singer jumped from No. 102 to No. 10 on the global chart, earning a PWR(GL) score of 51.0. He also took the top spot on K-POPIT BOARD's "Biggest Risers" ranking.
His rise came after reports emerged on Oct. 27 that his official Spotify account had surpassed 22 million followers, making him the fastest Asian artist, solo or group, to reach the figure.
Jungkook achieved the milestone approximately three years and eight months after opening his Spotify account on Feb. 11, 2022. Despite not releasing a new solo single or album since 2023, he has continued to attract listeners through existing releases, including his hit "Seven."
The news quickly spread across social media. Jungkook's Fan SNS Spread metric, which measures how widely conversations circulate among fans, jumped 394.0%. His D-layer growth rate, which tracks interest beyond an artist's core fandom, also increased by 394.4%.
The figures indicate that the Spotify achievement generated considerable discussion among fans while also reaching a wider audience. The milestone came as BTS was touring South America on its "ARIRANG" world tour, keeping the group in the spotlight.
