BTS Jimin's Father to Close His Busan Cafe in One Year
A cafe in Busan run by the father of BTS member Jimin will close in one year. The surprise announcement has also brought past disputes over the cafe back into the spotlight.
The cafe posted the news on its official social media account on Nov. 2. "As of today, we have 365 days left to spend with you," the post read. The message indicates that the cafe plans to remain open for one more year before officially closing its doors.
"We sincerely thank everyone who has visited us, cared about us, and given us steady interest and love all this time," the cafe said.
The post went on by stating the following: "Your visits from far away, your happy smiles and warm greetings, and every bit of support and sincere feeling you shared with us have become a happiness and precious memories bigger than words can express."
"We hope these 365 days will not be just a countdown, but precious time to build more happiness and memories with you," the cafe added. It did not give a specific reason for the closing.
The cafe first opened in 2019 under the name MAGNATE. A few months later, Jimin's father leased the space and started running it. Disagreementds arose during that process over the trademark rights to the name and the cafe's management. In 2024, the cafe changed its name to ZM-ILLENNIAL.
Inside, the cafe displays memorabilia and artwork connected to BTS. Jimin is from Busan, and once word spread that his family ran the place, it became a well-known stop for ARMY, the group's fandom, from both South Korea and overseas.
The closing news has also renewed interest in earlier claims about the cafe. An overseas content creator had previously claimed that Jimin's father was having a hard time because of a dispute with the landlord and problems running a nearby store.
For many fans, the cafe has been one of the few places where they could feel close to an artist's hometown and family. Its countdown now turns a fan landmark into a destination with a limited time left to visit.
