xikers Drops 'DIENAMITE' Remix Album With Three New Versions
K-pop group xikers has put out a remix album for "DIENAMITE," the title track of its eighth mini album. The remix album arrived on music platforms on the 6th at 2 p.m. KST. That was four days after the group released the mini album, "ROUTE ZERO : The CALLING," on the 2nd.
"DIENAMITE" is about people who step off a set path, find each other and work out a direction of their own. The song also marks a first for the group. Member Minjae took part in producing it, and this is the first time a song he helped produce has been chosen as a xikers title track.
Other musicians joined the comeback, too. The "DIENAMITE" music video, released on the 2nd, features a cameo from Lee Sung-woo of the rock band No Brain. On the 5th, the group shared a live clip with rapper and guitarist Han Yo-han, who played the guitar solo himself.
The mini album landed on album charts in South Korea and abroad after its release. It hit No. 1 on the daily retail album chart from Circle Chart, one of South Korea's main music charts, and reached No. 2 on the Hanteo Chart daily album chart. It also entered iTunes "Top Albums" charts in several countries and regions. The title track climbed to No. 3 on the real-time chart of the Korean streaming service Bugs.
The new remix album holds three reworked takes on the original: "DIENAMITE (Rico Ver.)," "DIENAMITE (Speed Up Ver.)" and "DIENAMITE (Speed Down Ver.)." Each one changes the tempo and the mix of sounds.
The Rico version makes the biggest shift in sound. It pairs a low, heavy bass line with distorted guitar, giving the track a darker, rougher feel than the original. The song also builds in a different way. xikers released a visualizer for this version along with the album.
The group will keep promoting on TV music shows after the remix release. Its "DIENAMITE" stage is built around group choreography, with several members moving in sync at once.
xikers starts those performances on KBS 2TV's "Music Bank" on the 6th. The group will then appear on MBC's "Show! Music Core" and SBS's "Inkigayo."
