TWICE Wins Best Female K-POP Artist at 2026 American Music Awards

K-POP girl group TWICE has become the first female K-POP act to win an American Music Award. The group took home Best Female K-Pop Artist at the ceremony held May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The American Music Awards, founded in 1974, sit alongside the Grammys and the Billboard Music Awards as one of the three major U.S. music ceremonies. TWICE earned the win on their second career nomination at the show.

What makes the trophy notable is how it is decided. The American Music Awards rely entirely on fan voting, which makes the result a direct read on an artist's global fan base. For a K-POP girl group, that ceiling had not been broken before TWICE.

The win arrives in the middle of the group's busiest touring run to date. TWICE opened their "THIS IS FOR" world tour in Incheon in July of last year and have been working through 78 shows across 43 cities, the largest tour the group has ever staged.

They are currently on the European leg. After stops in Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Turin, Berlin, and Cologne, TWICE will perform in Amsterdam on May 30 and 31.

The award caps a stretch in which K-POP girl groups have steadily pushed deeper into mainstream U.S. industry recognition. TWICE's name on an AMA trophy turns that progress into something concrete.
