LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT, KATSEYE's 'ICONIC BY MISTAKE' Hits Spotify Global Chart
The new joint single from LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT and KATSEYE is making an early mark on the global charts. "ICONIC BY MISTAKE," a three-group collaboration between the HYBE-affiliated acts, debuted at No. 29 on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart on its release day, according to figures published on Nov. 14.
The track pulled in 3.1 million streams on its first day, Nov. 12. It also charted in 43 countries and regions, including No. 26 on Spotify in the United States and No. 42 in the United Kingdom. The wide regional spread suggests fans of all three groups turned out for the project at roughly the same time.
The visuals have drawn similar attention. The music video, released a day before the single on Nov. 11, passed 10 million views in about 30 hours. A stage clip uploaded to YouTube after the song's performance on Mnet's "M Countdown" hit 6.7 million views in two days.
A dance practice video followed on the official HYBE LABELS YouTube channel on Nov. 14. The clip strips away the stage production and focuses on the choreography of all three groups together, showing the formations and group routines.
"ICONIC BY MISTAKE" is built on an alternative pop sound, with a hard beat, shifting production and a repeated hook. The lyrics take aim at the way modern pop culture is consumed.
The early numbers point to something HYBE has been trying to build for some time. By putting LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT and KATSEYE on the same song, the company is testing how far a coordinated push across its girl group roster can travel when each act brings its own regional fan base to the table.
