BTS to Take Over New York City's Grand Central Terminal for "THE CITY" Project
BTS will bring its "BTS THE CITY ARIRANG" project to New York City from July 24 to Aug. 3, transforming landmarks and cultural venues across the city ahead of the group's "ARIRANG" world tour concerts.
The announcement was made through the group's Weverse platform on July 10. The citywide project will coincide with BTS' two concerts at MetLife Stadium on Aug. 1 and 2, offering fans a series of themed experiences inspired by the group's latest album, "ARIRANG."
One of the project's main attractions will be Grand Central Terminal, where the station's Main Concourse will be transformed with "ARIRANG"-themed installations from July 30 to Aug. 3. Red promotional visuals connected to the album will also appear throughout the terminal and surrounding subway stations.
Inside Vanderbilt Hall, visitors will be able to explore "ARMY MADANG," an interactive exhibition space featuring stage outfits worn by BTS during the "LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF" concert at Wembley Stadium in 2019. The venue will also host hands-on activities, including a T-shirt customization experience inspired by the new album while a light stick customisation station will be held at another venue.
The Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) will participate with additional cultural programming alongside Korean brands. Planned activities include interactive experiences hosted by Samsung Electronics, a beauty pop-up by TIRTIR, a bakery experience from Tous les Jours, and photo booths by Photoism.
The project will also feature a citywide stamp rally connecting key locations, including Grand Central Terminal, KCCNY, Bank of Hope, Arte Museum, and MetLife Stadium. Fans will be able to collect stamps while exploring different BTS-themed installations throughout New York.
Additional events are planned throughout the city, including random play dance sessions with local K-pop dance crews, a welcome party at a New York club, and collaborations with food and beverage brands. More details on the schedule and participating venues are expected to be announced through Weverse on July 20.
