G-Dragon Named Promotional Ambassador for UNESCO World Heritage Committee Session
G-Dragon has been appointed the official promotional ambassador for the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, becoming the public face of the international gathering hosted in South Korea for the first time.
The artist received the appointment at the committee's opening ceremony held July 19 at BEXCO in Busan, where delegates from around the world gathered to discuss global heritage preservation and policy. During the event, G-Dragon delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of protecting cultural heritage for future generations.
"Preserving heritage is not only about protecting the past, but also about creating peace for the future," he said, pledging to support efforts to safeguard sites threatened by conflict and climate change through art.
The appointment also recognizes the philosophy behind G-Dragon's JUSPEACE Foundation, whose "HERITAGE IN PEACE" campaign raises donations for UNESCO's World Heritage Fund. UNESCO Director-General-elect Khaled El-Enany acknowledged the initiative during his opening remarks, thanking the foundation for supporting the fundraising effort.
The campaign will collect contributions from citizens and businesses in South Korea before delivering them directly to UNESCO's World Heritage Fund.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon is set to return to the stage in August as BIGBANG launches its 20th anniversary world tour with concerts in Goyang from Aug. 21 to 23.
