Red Velvet Previews New Summer Album Ahead of August Comeback
Red Velvet is building anticipation for its upcoming summer comeback by unveiling new details about its mini album "Velvet Summer," due out next month.
The five-track release will be led by the title track "Surfin' Boy," which the group has described as a new "summer velvet song." Ahead of the album's release, SM Entertainment introduced two additional tracks that showcase different sides of the group's signature sound.
"Hula Hoop" is a mid-tempo pop song built around bright guitar and piano melodies, capturing memories of a fleeting summer and a meaningful reunion that feels destined. Another B-side, "Hawaii," is an acoustic pop track written solely by member Joy. Its lyrics encourage listeners to set aside everyday worries and reconnect with the freedom and dreams of childhood.
Red Velvet also released new teaser images through its official social media channels on July 21, featuring the members enjoying a relaxed road trip together. The laid-back concept offers another glimpse of the album's warm summer atmosphere.
"Velvet Summer" will be released digitally on Aug. 3, with physical albums arriving the same day.
