Jennie Releases New Summer Single 'Less than a Lover' Worldwide

Jennie is returning with new music just in time for summer, releasing her latest single "Less than a Lover" and its accompanying music video worldwide on July 24.

The alternative pop track was co-written and co-composed by Jennie, who has described it as a song inspired by the feeling of summer. Built around lo-fi guitar, vintage electric keyboard and a laid-back groove, "Less than a Lover" explores the lingering emotions of a relationship that exists somewhere between friendship and romance.

Fans first heard the song earlier this month when Jennie performed it at Poland's Open'er Festival, where she introduced it as a track she wrote with the season in mind. The official release follows weeks of teaser images and music video previews that generated strong interest online, with fans praising the cinematic visuals and romantic atmosphere.

Jennie also took an active role in directing the music video, which was filmed in Spain and complements the song's bright, nostalgic mood.

The release follows the global success of "Dracula (JENNIE Remix)," her collaboration with Tame Impala, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Jennie is set to continue promoting the new single with appearances at major festivals including Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan.
