JYP's CIIU to Release First Mini Album in China on Aug. 4

JYP Entertainment's China-based boy group CIIU is set to release its first mini album, "Closer To 'You'," on Aug. 4, continuing the group's steady rise in the local music market.

Led by the title track "Closer," the release explores the emotions of growing closer to someone while further establishing the group's signature "C-Tro Pop" sound, a style that blends nostalgic Chinese influences with contemporary pop production.

The rollout began earlier this month with concept films and promotional images, followed by the pre-release track "Step By Step" on July 14. The song combines the traditional Chinese dizi flute with hip-hop and early-2000s Mandopop-inspired R&B, offering a preview of the musical direction the group plans to showcase on the upcoming album.

Since debuting in August 2025 through JYP's "Globalization by Localization" strategy, CIIU has steadily expanded its profile in China through brand partnerships and live performances. The group is also scheduled to perform at the 2026 TMELive International Music Awards on Aug. 22, nearly a year after making its debut at the same event.

Following the album release, CIIU will unveil another new track, "Next To You," on Aug. 19 before celebrating its first anniversary with a fan meeting in Shanghai on Aug. 29.
