TUIDE Lets the Full Choreography Do the Talking as TikTok Challenges Take Off
TUIDE is gaining traction on short-form platforms with dance challenges for both its debut title track "SUN KISS" and B-side "GRLS."
The two songs, from the group's first mini album "TUNE & PLAY," have been used in more than 160,000 TikTok videos combined, including videos using original sounds, as of September 4.
The tracks have also climbed Instagram's Trending Reels Audio rankings, with "SUN KISS" reaching as high as No. 3 and "GRLS" peaking at No. 6.
Rather than creating abbreviated choreography specifically designed for short-form content, TUIDE has been using the songs' full chorus sections for the challenges. This approach is done to highlight the different performance styles of the two tracks.
"SUN KISS" centers on a relaxed groove and rhythmic movement, while "GRLS" incorporates elements of house, soul and hip-hop into both its music and choreography. Fans and dancers have since uploaded their own versions of the choreography, with some following the original routines and others adapting the dances to their individual styles.
Several K-POP artists have also joined TUIDE for the challenges. Participants include TWICE's Jihyo; SEVENTEEN's Dino, Mingyu, Seungkwan and The8; TXT's Taehyun; ENHYPEN's Sunoo and Ni-ki; LE SSERAFIM's Hong Eunchae; TWS' Youngjae, Kyungmin and Jihoon; and CORTIS' Juhoon.
The short-form response comes as TUIDE continues music show promotions for "TUNE & PLAY," which marked the group's debut in August.
The mini album recorded more than 110,000 copies in first-week sales, placing it among the 10 highest-selling debut albums by a K-POP girl group during their respective first weeks. All tracks from the album have also entered major South Korean music charts.
