GOT7's Youngjae Marks Birthday With $7,000 Donation to Rescue Dogs
GOT7's Youngjae marked his birthday this year by giving back to abandoned dogs. The singer donated 10 million won (about $7,000) to a Korean rescue shelter on Sept. 17, the day he celebrated his birthday.
The donation went to Rainbow Shelter, run by the animal welfare nonprofit Korean Dogs. According to his team, Youngjae wanted to spend his birthday in a way that would carry real meaning, and the funds will go directly to dogs in urgent need of care.
This is not the first time he has stepped up for rescue animals. Youngjae, who is currently serving his mandatory military duty as a public service worker, donated 30 million won (about $21,000) to the same shelter late last year.
That gift was made in the name of his dog Coco, who had passed away. He did not stop at writing a check. Youngjae visited the shelter in person, cleaned the kennels, and worked alongside the volunteers on site.
His steady giving, even while in service, is expected to make a lasting difference for rescued dogs in South Korea. The new donation will be used for medical treatment and recovery care for dogs rescued from harsh conditions, as well as improvements to the shelter's facilities.
Youngjae is continuing his public service duty and is expected to return to fans after he completes his enlistment.
