ILLIT's "You're Under Arrest" Climbs to No. 13 on Melon After University Festival Performance
ILLIT brought its latest single, "You're Under Arrest," to Yonsei University on October 29, turning the song's signature whistle hook into an audience participation moment during the university's festival.
The group performed a setlist featuring songs from its fifth mini album, "BREAK EVEN," released on October 26, alongside several of its previous hits.
During "You're Under Arrest," the audience joined in using toy whistles that the members had prepared as a surprise gift. The whistles accompanied the song's opening melody, creating a coordinated response throughout the performance.
ILLIT also incorporated a playful reference to university students' job searches into the stage.
The members changed part of the chorus to "취뽀하겠어," a Korean expression referring to successfully securing employment. The lyric change played on online jokes about how the original chorus sounds similar to the phrase.
The group continued the performance with songs including its debut hit "Magnetic," "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" and "Cherish (My Love)." The festival also marked the first live performance of "More," a B-side from "BREAK EVEN," while the encore performance of "It's Me" prompted an audience singalong.
The university appearance came as "You're Under Arrest" continued climbing South Korea's domestic music charts. The song entered Melon's daily chart at No. 58 on October 26 before rising to No. 27 on October 27 and No. 13 on October 28, a gain of 45 positions over two days.
Meanwhile, ILLIT released a performance version of the song's music video on October 29.The performance video offers a more everyday setting for the song, contrasting with its original music video.
Set in a residential apartment complex, the video adopts a flash mob concept, with security guards, children playing outdoors and a cheerleading group gradually joining the members in the choreography.
As of October 29, "You're Under Arrest" also ranked No. 2 in South Korea, No. 4 in Japan and No. 12 in the United States on YouTube's Trending Music rankings, according to the group's agency.
