Red Velvet's 'Velvet Summer' Arrives August 3 With Joy-Penned Title Track
K-POP girl group Red Velvet is returning as a full group for the first time in about two years and two months. The five-member act will release its summer mini-album "Velvet Summer" on August 3 at 6 p.m. KST across global music platforms.
The new EP is Red Velvet's first full-group release since "Cosmic" in June 2024. The album carries five tracks in total, led by the title song "Surfin' Boy."
"Surfin' Boy" is a dance track built on bossa nova guitar, reggae rhythms, and house sound. Member Joy wrote the lyrics on her own, framing the song around memories of a summer spent with someone close and the new memories still to come. The first teaser image, released on the 20th, shows the members posed against a beach backdrop.
Ahead of the album's release, Red Velvet will hold "2026 Red Velvet FAN-CON <A Day in Red & Velvet>" at Korea University's Hwajung Gymnasium in Seoul's Seongbuk district from July 31 through August 2. The fan-con was originally planned as two shows on August 1 and 2, but after both dates sold out, a third show was added on July 31.
